Three Awesome Airsoft Rifles that you must buy

If you are in the market for an air rifle, here are three models to check out. Any of these rifles would make an affordable starting point for a newcomer or a nice addition to the airsoft veteran’s collection. Personal preferences will determine which one is right for you. Are you left handed? Do you prefer open sights or a scope? Do you like a skeleton grip or a traditional stock? While similar in power and durability, all of these rifles have distinctive features that set them apart from rest of the competition.

Ruger Blackhawk Combo Air Rifle
Ruger Blackhawk Combo air rifle
The Ruger Blackhawk Combo Air Rifle is noted for its extreme accuracy and build quality. Ruger manufactures airsoft guns to the same standards as their firearms with precision machining, excellent reliability and durable materials. The Blackhawk has an all-weather ambi composite stock, making it both waterproof and shockproof. It will feel sturdy and solid in your hands and you will notice a little kick when you fire it, which is a good sign that this air gun has decent power. The Blackhawk is a break-barrel single shot air gun and the spring piston powers .177 caliber pellets at up to 1,000 feet per second. It is perfect for some backyard plinking and fully capable of taking down rodents and other pests. The Blackhawk also comes with a 4×32 scope. Even though it is a cheaper pack-in model scope, it is surprisingly high quality and very accurate. If you are not fond of a scope, the Blackhawk also has good iron sights. The Ruger Blackhawk is a match grade air gun at an entry-level price.  Get more info and discount pricing on the Ruger Blackhawk Combo Air Rifle.

GAMO Silent Cat Air Rifle
Gamo Silent Cat Air Rifle

The GAMO Silent Cat Air Rifle packs a punch, firing pellets at up to 1,200 feet per second. This air rifle is extremely accurate and billed as an excellent option for hunting small game and eradicating pests. The Silent Cat is a break-barrel single shot air gun. The synthetic skeleton stock is weatherproof and makes this rifle lightweight and comfortable to use. The butt of the rifle has a vented rubber pad for recoil absorption, which is a nice touch. The GAMO Silent Cat also features a non-removable noise dampener on the barrel. GAMO claims that it reduces noise up to 52% but reviews are mixed and many say noise reduction depends more on what type of pellet is used. The one complaint some had with this rifle was the plastic trigger. However, the trigger is a minor concern and can easily be replaced with an aftermarket metal trigger kit. The Silent Cat also comes with a 4×32 scope and iron sights. Overall, this is a nice air rifle with a couple of neat features. Whether you are just looking for something to target practice with or you want to do some small game hunting, the Silent Cat is a good, affordable choice. More info and current pricing on the GAMO Silent Cat Air Rifle

GAMO Hornet Air Rifle
Gamo Hornet Air Rifle, .177 Caliber
Another offering from GAMO is the Hornet. This is another popular rifle using the break-barrel cocking system. It is powerful, firing rounds at 1,200 feet per second, and comes with many of the standard features: all weather stock, pack-in scope and vented butt plate. It does not come with iron sights. The Hornet is durable, very accurate and great for target shooting or small game hunting. The GAMO Hornet has a couple of notable features. First, it is an ambidextrous rifle. The twin cheek pads give a comfortable shooting experience to both left and right-handed marksmen. The other interesting point is the fluted polymer jacketed steel barrel. Aside from looking cool, the fluted polymer is more scratch resistant than an average barrel. The polymer eliminates the need for regular oiling and removing fingerprints to prevent rust. Click here for reviews and discount pricing on the GAMO Hornet Air Rifle

Types of Airsoft Rifles:

There are three different types of airsoft rifles. There is the gas, electric and spring rifles and guns. What is the difference between the three types of airsoft guns? They are powered by different sources.

  • Spring: The spring rifles are the basic of the three airsoft guns. The rifle uses a spring mechanism that allows the plastic pellet to be fired. The spring rifles fire one shot at a time and the operator will have to cock the rifle each time they want to shoot.
  • Gas: The gas airsoft gun uses compressed gas in a can. The gas comes in a form of nitrogen, CO2 and an HFC134a refrigerant that is connected to the gun that uses the gas as the main power force for the plastic pellet. The gas airsoft rifle offers more power and punch than the spring rifle. The gas airsoft gun doesn’t require cocking the gun for each shot.
  • Electric: The electric airsoft gun uses a battery powered mechanism to force the plastic pellet out for firing. The electric gun uses the battery to engage a spring that is in the gun. The operator doesn’t have to manually cock the weapon for each fire as the battery will do that for the operator.

Pros of the Gas Airsoft Rifle:best airsoft sniper rifle

  • Added power
  • Semi-automatic firing
  • Firing speeds of 400 FPS
  • Accurate
  • Made of metal
  • Looks like real gun

There are a few cons to the gas airsoft rifle. One of the disadvantages is you can run out of gas while you are using the gun. The gas airsoft rifle can cost a bit more than the spring airsoft rifle, but it all depends on the owner’s preference.

Pros of the Electric Airsoft Rifle:

  • Durable
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Firing speeds of 500 FPS
  • Top performing
  • Easy to maintain
  • Very popular

The disadvantages of the electric airsoft rifles is not many, but the main disadvantage is the battery needs to be charged and can run out of battery life. The electric airsoft rifle doesn’t perform in conditions of dampness. There isn’t many disadvantages of the electric over the gas as it performs wonderfully.

All three types of airsoft rifles are excellent choices. The choice in selecting one airsoft rifle over the other is all up to the operator’s preference as each one has many advantages over the other.
